SA: Lack of land and red tape holding up retirement housing

A leading developer has called for changes to planning laws at all levels .. to help
private industry meet the growing demand for retirement housing.

PETER KARIDIS .. from the Adelaide-based Karidis Corporation .. says the demand for
specialist retirement accommodation is set to explode.

But he says there's a lack of affordable land near public transport and other facilities.

Mr KARIDIS says greater encouragement must be given to the development of retirement
living complexes.

He says governments should make special allowances for such projects .. such as a fast-tracked
approval process.
